PDA Color Icons


PDA Package Downloader 1.5 is a GREAT PROGRAM...except that it doesn't have colored icons in the extended view. How important are colored icons? Not very in the whole scheme of things. But if you -- like me -- spent mucho bucks on a color monitor, perhaps you -- like me -- want to see COLOR whenever possible.

I am almost completely sure that the colors are consistant throughout the icons (check the creation time for this file, and you'll see that it is quite late -- or early).

All you have to do is:
0) As always with ResEdit, remember that you are screwing around with the guts of the application. If you are concerned about making mistakes, be sure to follow step 1 exactly. If you're still concerned about making mistakes, don't do it. If you do it, and you really foul up your application, and you didn't make a copy, and you didn't keep an archive copy, and the bulletin boards have just purged their systems of it: It's Your Own Fault. Don't blame me.
1) MAKE A COPY OF THE PDA PACKAGE DOWNLOADER 1.5 application. If you make a copy, and only alter the copy, the original remains pristine and unharmed.
2) Open the copy with ResEdit
3) Open the PDA Color Icons file with ResEdit
4) Copy the "cicn" resource from the PDA Color Icons file (after looking, of course, to see if that's what you want).
5) Select the Package Downloader window and PASTE. Answer "Yes" to "Are you sure you want to replace...?"
6) SAVE THE APPLICATION before you quit.

Note: These changes were made without permission of Lunatech. I can't imagine them caring if they knew, but they might. Maybe they're the type of company who hates color computers; I don't know. Maybe they just didn't have time to do it themselves.
